How is this different from asking ChatGPT or Copilot?

A general-purpose model answers with the same confidence whether it is right or wrong, and it cannot tell you when it last looked at the source. That is a poor foundation for advice a client will rely on.

Thelonious differs in four specific ways:

• It monitors a defined, named set of primary sources continuously, rather than recalling whatever happened to be in a training set.
• Every entry is timestamped and linked to the originating document.
• A qualified legal professional signs off each entry before publication.

What is Thelonious Research?

An AI research assistant included with every paid seat. Ask it a question in plain English — “what changed in the EU AI Act’s GPAI obligations this quarter?” — and it answers from the verified database, citing the underlying documents rather than the open web.

What does “human-verified” actually mean?

• signs it off.

Can I rely on this for client advice?

Thelonious is a monitoring and research tool, not legal advice, and using it does not create a solicitor–client relationship with us. What it does is get you to the primary source faster, tell you what has moved and when, and give you a verified summary you can check in seconds. The judgement stays yours.

What happens if an entry is wrong?

Every entry carries a correction route. Flag it and it returns to the verification team the same working day. If the entry changes, everyone who has already seen it is notified, and the correction is logged against the entry rather than quietly overwritten — so the record of what you were told, and when, holds up.

Which jurisdictions do you cover?

145+ jurisdictions, including the EU and its member states, the UK, US federal and the active state legislatures, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India, Canada, Australia and Brazil — plus supranational bodies including the OECD, the Council of Europe and UN agencies. Coverage is reviewed regularly and expands as new regimes come into force.

Where does the source material come from?

Primary sources only: official gazettes, regulators and supervisory authorities, parliamentary and legislative trackers, court and tribunal listings, and agency guidance. Every entry links to the document it came from, so you can go straight to the original rather than take our word for the summary.

How quickly does something new appear?

Monitoring runs 24/7. Material developments are typically verified and published within one working day of the source publishing them. Significant items — a judgment, a regulator’s enforcement action, a statutory instrument laid before Parliament — are prioritised ahead of that queue.

How is Thelonious priced?

Thelonious is licensed per seat, on a monthly subscription. Every seat includes full platform access, live monitoring across every jurisdiction we cover, and Thelonious Research at no additional cost — there are no feature tiers and nothing is held back for a higher plan.

How is our data handled?
