Different genres.
One ensemble.
Named for Thelonious Monk, built like his band — players drawn from different genres who came together to make something none could alone. Law, technology, policy, the creative industries. One band.
Some stories are decades in the making.
Back in the 2000s, four professionals crossed paths in the same building — working for different companies. One a successful law firm, Nabarro; the other the creative powerhouse of Warner Bros. There was something special in the relationships that developed. Each of us like musicians from different genres, sensing that one day we could create something extraordinary together. But timing is everything, and it wasn’t our moment yet — so we scattered across industries, each mastering our craft and building deep expertise in law, entertainment, strategy and technology.
Fast forward to 2025, and the planets finally aligned with The Birdella Group. Catch-ups in hipster coffee shops in London and LA led us to seize the day and come together to help creators manage the AI revolution. Each of us brings complementary skills that form a powerful constellation of expertise. Like a band getting back together after successful solo careers, we’re ready to create something none of us could achieve alone. The wait was worth it.
One of the original founders of The Birdella Group. An experienced IP attorney who spent over a decade at Disney and, before that, Baker McKenzie — and an adjunct professor of IP/AI at USC Gould Law School. Read Michael’s story →
